Local search for Langley trades: get into the map results where your crews actually work

We set up and maintain your Google Business Profile and your website's local signals so you appear in map results across the Langley communities you serve profitably, starting closest to home.

Written by Ali Sedighi, MBALast updated:

Local search is the work of appearing in Google's map results and local listings when someone nearby looks for what you do. For a Langley trade, it's usually the single most valuable piece of marketing, because those calls come from people who need help now and who chose you over the businesses listed beside you.

We handle the setup and ongoing care of your listing and your website's local signals. We're a marketing service, not a contractor, so the trade work stays with you.

What local search means in a two-municipality town

It means picking your ground deliberately. Google ranks local results using relevance, distance and prominence. Distance is measured from the searcher, so the plumber who appears first in Murrayville may not appear at all in Walnut Grove, even though both are "Langley".

That's why we start with a map, not a keyword list. We mark your base, your preferred communities, the ones you'll serve if the job is big enough, and the ones you'd rather skip. We use the seven communities on the Township's own list as our planning units, add the City's six school-catchment neighbourhoods, and score each one for drive time and job value. We plan visibility one community at a time, outward from where you start each morning.

What's included

The work falls into four parts, done in this order.

1. Your Google Business Profile

  • the right primary category, plus a small number of accurate secondary ones
  • a service area that matches where you really go, set by community rather than a vague radius
  • business name exactly as it appears on your truck and invoices, with no keyword stuffing, which Google's guidelines prohibit
  • hours that reflect when someone will actually answer
  • photos of real Langley jobs, crews and vehicles, refreshed through the year
  • services and short descriptions written for customers, not search engines

2. Consistent business details

Your name, phone number and address should match everywhere: your website, directories, your Better Business Bureau page if you have one, industry listings and social profiles. We audit and correct the important ones. Inconsistency confuses both customers and Google.

3. Local proof on your website

We add or improve pages that show real work in the communities you want, built from your own job photos, project notes and common questions. A page about fence installation in Brookswood earns its place when it shows Brookswood fences you built and answers questions Brookswood homeowners ask. A page with the community name swapped into generic text doesn't, and we won't write those.

4. A review habit

Reviews affect both ranking and whether people call. We set up a short, repeatable way to ask happy customers at the right moment, usually the day the job wraps, with a direct link. We draft polite replies you can use, including for the occasional unfair review.

Who it's for

This suits established trades that do good work but are invisible in the map results. It's especially useful if:

  • most of your work comes from three or four nearby communities
  • your competitors have more reviews but not better work
  • your listing was set up years ago and hasn't been touched since
  • you want calls that don't stop the day an ad budget runs out

If you're brand new, with no reviews and no job photos, local search alone will be slow. We'd likely pair it with Google Ads for the first few months.

Timeline

Most clients see this pattern:

Period What happens
Weeks 1–3 Listing audit and fixes, category and service-area changes, business-details clean-up
Months 1–3 Community pages and job proof added, review habit running, first visibility gains closest to your base
Months 3–6 Steadier map presence in your core communities, then gradual extension outward
Ongoing Monthly photos, posts, review replies, page updates and seasonal adjustments

Langley's competitive density varies a lot. A niche trade in Aldergrove may move quickly. A general plumber chasing Willoughby, where many young households and many competitors meet, will take longer.

How we measure results

We measure calls and messages from your listing and your site, not vanity numbers. Each month you see:

  • calls, website visits and direction requests from your Google Business Profile
  • visibility for your main services across a grid of points in your chosen communities
  • new reviews and your response rate
  • which community pages produce enquiries

The question we answer each month is simple: are more of the right Langley customers finding and calling you?

Mistakes we see often

  1. Setting the service area to "all of Metro Vancouver". It doesn't help you rank further away, and it hides where you actually focus.
  2. Adding "Langley" to the business name. If it isn't your legal or everyday trading name, it breaks Google's rules and risks suspension.
  3. Using a virtual office or mailbox address to look closer to a busier community. Google treats that as a violation.
  4. Writing thin pages for every community. They rarely rank and can weaken the rest of the site.
  5. Asking for reviews in a batch once a year. A steady trickle looks natural and keeps your listing current.

The guide to local search across both Langleys goes deeper on setup choices. When you're ready, see pricing or call, text or email and we'll look at your listing with you.

Frequently asked questions

How long does local search take to work in Langley?

Fixes to a broken or incomplete listing can show within weeks. Building steady visibility in competitive communities like Willoughby or Walnut Grove usually takes three to six months of consistent work, depending on how strong the competition already is.

Should my listing say City of Langley or Township of Langley?

Your listing should use your real address, exactly as Canada Post and your other records show it. If you work from home or travel to customers, you can hide the address and set a service area instead. What matters most is consistency everywhere your business appears.

Can I rank in Aldergrove if my shop is in Walnut Grove?

Sometimes, but proximity is a strong factor in map results, so it's hard. If Aldergrove matters to you, the more reliable routes are paid search there, a genuine local page with real jobs, or eventually a staffed second location.

Do you write fake reviews or buy them?

Never. Fake reviews break Google's rules and Canadian law. We help you build a simple habit of asking real customers at the right moment, and replying to every review politely.
